Press Release Body = It\'s been said that life is a game and that\'s true. The hockey
team with the most goals wins. The politician with the most votes wins. An
individual can be engaged in many games at once-some quite empowering, some quite
the opposite. For example, if you were young enough, you could decide to become an
NBA basketball star. Your game would consist of getting in shape, joining a local
basketball team and pursuing a championship. The game of becoming an NBA player
could take years and the obstacles and opponents would be ferocious-not a game for
the weak of spirit. The payoff for winning would be proportional to the
obstacles-huge!

This is a power game. A power game occurs when a person uses most of his or her
potential as a being. But, what about an adult playing a basketball game against
fourth graders? This obviously would not present much of a challenge to the
individual\'s personal potential, nor would it offer much in the way of fulfillment
should the person win. Playing a kid\'s game occurs when one plays small, generally
out of fear or an addiction to comfort. The individual uses only a fraction of her
or his true potential-usually just enough to get by. Yet, those who hang out in the
comfort zone for their \"payoff\" suffer staggering losses in personal expansion and
fulfillment. (You don\'t have to stretch much if you\'re playing basketball with
fourth graders.)
There are a lot of opinions exchanged about what constitutes a power game. Doctor
\"A\" shakes her head in disbelief and exclaims that if her colleagues were more
dedicated, concerned and caring, they would be seeing 700 patients visits a week as
she is doing. Doctor \"B\" who will probably never save enough money to retire on,
says smugly that he is satisfied that he has obtained his goal of seeing 90 patient
visits a week. So, who\'s right? Is doctor \"A\" greedy or an egomaniac, or is doctor
\"B\" an apathy case living in denial? How do you get into a power game and get some
fulfillment from your practice?

The answer is simple. Fulfillment comes from playing at high levels of potential.
This is different for everyone. The question is not, \"Are you seeing 90 patient
visits a week or 700 patient visits a week?\" The question is, \"How much potential do
you have?\"
It isn\'t greed or never being satisfied. It really comes down to the fact that human
beings experience the most fulfillment in life when they are expressing the bulk of
their potential. When you reach one plateau, you can discover how much potential you
have by asking yourself,\" What else is possible?\" Choose a bigger game, set up a
strategy for attainment, and go for it.

Know the game you\'re playing

Look at the game you\'re in right now, and tell the truth about it. Does your game
empower you? Your family? Your staff? Your community? Or, is it set up purely for
your comfort because you\'re afraid to strike out and play bigger?

Set up a bigger game that challenges you to be more, to accomplish more, to use more
of your potential. Then take intelligent focused action-the actions that are
necessary to win your new game. Be responsible for challenges as they arise. The
bigger you play, the more chance you have for breakdown and breakthrough. Things
will show up that have to be handled (upsets, lawsuits, etc.).
Increasing responsibility-the ability to respond-will allow you to continue to
expand during trying times. It\'s true that life isn\'t a \"sure thing.\" There are no
guarantees. But, that\'s no reason to forsake a powerful lifestyle by choosing the
temporary comfort that a kid\'s game provides.www.NewPatientsOnline.com

The ultimate trap

So, you say, \"That sounds great, but I\'m already doing what I\'m capable of doing and
I\'m playing my little game to the best of my ability because that\'s all the
potential I\'ve got. But how do you know? And where do you look to get the answers?
You looked back into your personal history, and of course there wasn\'t much to see.
Unfortunately, most people do not have a lot of successful experiences in their
past, so when they look back there, it\'s not very inspirational.

You should take a look at a game that would be empowering-not comfortable-to
yourself and others, and get into action. You will know how far you can go when you
don\'t go any further. Make sure you\'ve obtained the necessary knowledge you need to
succeed in the first place, and than apply that knowledge correctly. Sometimes
people will jump into things totally unprepared and fail because they didn\'t know
what they were doing. This leads them to the wrong conclusion that they were not
capable enough to succeed. The lesson here is don\'t step into the ring before
learning to box! On the other hand, if you have accumulated a lot of knowledge but
are not willing to generate the courage to apply it, you will be stopped dead in
your tracks.www.NewPatientsOnline.com

Playing power games leads one to a powerful lifestyle full of vitality and passion.
Playing kid\'s games sets up a life of stress, anxiety, pretense, coping and an
aggravating sense of \"what could have been but probably won\'t be.\" Not playing to
your full potential but choosing comfort or avoiding a fearful situation by
constantly playing kid\'s games normally leads an individual into a life of denial to
justify such behavior. Think about it. If you live a life where you are constantly
trying to avoid all the \"bad stuff,\" what do you end up with when you take an
occasional break from all that avoidance? Leftovers, that\'s what. On the other hand
playing power games, (which simply requires using your abilities to the max) allows
for an intense, passionate life of progress and accomplishment.
Does it really make sense to set up small games and win them at the expense of
losing the bigger, more fulfilling games by default? When the game is on the line,
it\'s not easy to justify trying to get by on walks-and then striking out.
